General purpose robotics will be largely hidden from us

Suppose I were to have a humanoid robot in my house. It has access to the drawers of sharp knives, and it can open the drawer, pick up a knife, and walk around with it. Why would I ever trust such a robot in my house? AI safety is 1000% more important once we embody AI via robotics. AI safety becomes a matter of trusting that technology will not physically harm us in our own homes, even though it has the means to do so.

I, for one, would never trust such technology, if the technology is connected to the internet. Even if it’s not, I still think I wouldn’t trust it. For that reason alone, general purpose robotics will be largely hidden in our day-to-day.

It will likely be behind walls, doing the manual labor tasks that humans used to do, out of reach of humans.
