Break glass in case of burnout

Watch for the following symptoms:

  1. More napping than usual
  2. Generally more tired
  3. Worse sleep, especially taking a while to fall asleep
  4. Restlessness at night
  5. Harder to wake up
  6. Worse productivity/more procrastination
  7. Irritability/getting easily annoyed at things/more easily frustrated
  8. Feeling like doing anything is like moving through molasses


Possible causes:

  1. Setback in goals
  2. Lack of purpose
  3. Overworked
  4. Too little visible success
  5. Too high expectations for self
  6. Doing too much in general
  7. Feeling what you're working on isn't making a difference/important
  8. Really wanting something to happen that just isn’t going to happen, you need to move on dude


In the event of those symptoms:

  1. Reduce work to the bare minimum responsibilities
  2. Get rid of all ambitions/grand goals
  3. Go outside, touch grass, look at animals
  4. Move your body around
  5. Do things you enjoy
  6. Talk to people, family, friends, anyone
  7. Reset goals to small, attainable, easy goals
  8. Rest
